Danny Ocean once said that Las Vegas casinos were built as labyrinths to keep people in. If they had used the same architects that built some of the department stores here in Ikebukuro, I guarantee that their gambling rates would have skyrocketed. Shopping here is one of the most disorienting, yet strangely enjoyable experiences that I've had in a good long time. There are stores all over the station and surrounding area that I went through, including a bunch of upscale designer places (Calvin Klein, Levi's, Salvatore, etc.) with accordingly high pricetags. The further out I went from the main department stores, though, the less expensive things tended to become, along with becoming more and more along the lines of what I was looking for. I ended up buying just a couple of things, and I'm heading out today for a bit of follow-up and to check out Animate, the flagship anime store, which is right down the street from me. I have a feeling I'll be there for a good long time.
I also made it out to the grocery store and picked up some inexpensive things so that I can support myself instead of going out to eat for every meal. The room's still comfortable, and I have orientation tomorrow morning.
絶望した!
ahhhh... So THAT'S why Animate is heaven!
